The First Touch
Behind the Score
The First Touch explores one of the simplest but most powerful human moments: holding someone's hand. Inspired by a short film that follows two people growing together through different stages of life, I wanted the music to capture how a single gesture can represent comfort, love, change, and memory.

The Challenge
The greatest challenge wasn't writing an emotional melody. It was making every new section feel like another stage of life while keeping the same emotional identity throughout the entire piece.

Emotional Goal
To make the listener remember someone they deeply love.
Building the Theme

The main melody was intentionally written with a simple motif. Rather than relying on complexity, the focus was on emotional clarity, allowing the theme to return throughout the piece with different orchestral colors.
As the story progresses, the harmony gradually expands and the orchestration becomes richer, mirroring the emotional growth of the characters.
Each variation introduces new instruments and dynamic changes, and richer harmony.
This approach allows the theme to mature naturally, giving each chapter its own emotional nuance while maintaining the same musical identity.

For the ending, I wanted the music to feel peaceful rather than dramatic. Instead of building toward a grand climax, the orchestra slowly settles into a warm and intimate resolution, leaving the listener with the feeling that every shared moment has become a lasting memory. The piece closes with a gentle piano progression inspired by Rachmaninoff's harmonic language, adding a final sense of nostalgia, warmth, and quiet reflection.
Final Thoughts
Sometimes, The First Touch becomes the memory that stays with us forever.
